CONCEPTION

There are certain traditional images and symbols – such as the figures of antique mithologies, the Christian iconography, the scenes based on the belief of demons and witches – that are vivid and still have a great influence on us even if the ages in which they were borned has gone already. They are now part of our daily thoughts and affects our destiny. Our interaction with those images may not even be conscious, yet we find no difficulty in identifying them, and use them if needed.

The editorial investigates the occurance of those icons and symbols in an environment which is typically distant from their original context, explores how they affect our ability to understand an image, and examines the amount and relation between the viewer, the concept and other natures which compose this influence.

Vannak bizonyos áthagyományozott képek és jelrendszerek – ilyenek az antik mitológiak alakjai, a keresztény ikonográfia, a démonokhoz és boszorkányokhoz kapcsolódó hiedelemkör képei – melyek meghatározóak maradnak az őket megalkotó korok letűnését követően is. Beépülnek, átszövik mindennapi gondolkodásunkat, és ezáltal befolyással bírnak sorsunk alakulására. Találkozásunk esetenként ezekkel a képekkel nem is feltétlenül tudatosul, mégis gond nélkül azonosítjuk és ha szükséges, használjuk őket. Az editorial azt vizsgálja, hogy ezek az ikonok, jelképek miként jelentkeznek és jelentkezhetnek a világ olyan felületein, melyek jellegzetesen távol állnak azok eredeti kontextusától, hogyan hatnak a képolvasás folyamatára, és hogy ez a hatás mennyiben a néző, a koncepció vagy más minőségek függvényében jön létre.
